Herbert Wasserman (American, 1925-2003), Untitled (Storm Off the Coast), oil on canvas, canvas: 24"h x 32"w, overall (with frame): 24.5"h x 33"w. Note: Born in New York, Wasserman came to San Francisco in 1953 and became part of the group of abstract artists working at the California School of Fine Arts (now the San Francisco Art Institute.) In 1956, he co-founded the Triangle Gallery that exhibited his work, along with that of Richard Dibenkorn, Elmer Bischoff, Walter Kuhlman, James Budd Dixon and Sargent Johnson.
