Maurice Molarsky (American, 1885-1950), Portrait of Pauline Viardot, oil on canvas, signed right center, auction label (Butterfield and Butterfield, San Francisco, CA) affixed verso, canvas: 77"h x 67"w, overall (with frame): 83"h x 73"w. Provenance: Purchased at Butterfield & Butterfield (lot 6BJS5). Note: Pauline Viardot (1821-1910) was a leading nineteenth-century French mezzo-soprano, pedagogue, and composer of Spanish descent.
