Frank Duveneck (American, 1848-1919), The Wharf at Gloucester Harbor, 1917, oil on canvas, initialed and dated lower right, canvas: 28"h x 36"w, overall (with frame): 36"h x 44"w. Provenance: Purchased from the Duveneck family by Drs. Ben and A. Jess Shenson in 1985 and donated to the Triton Museum of Art (Santa Clara, CA); then to Private Collection (Beverly Hills, CA). Exhibited: "Duveneck: Lost Paintings Found," Triton Museum of Art, October, 1987. Note: This lot is accompanied by an appraisal of the painting prepared by Joseph Armstrong Baird, Ph.D., dated March 15, 1985.
