Description
Chinese gilt-lacquered eight-armed Guanyin, the bodhisattva is shown seated in dhyanasana with the principal pair of hands in abhiseka mudra and three further pairs of hands extended, adorned in drapery, a scarf and a tall reticulated crown encircling his head, featuring three smaller heads of a demon centered by a pig and ox all issuing from the back of his head, 23" h. Provenance: Estate of Eric de Reynier, acquired in Shanghai, China during the late 1930s.
