Jared Young Chong (American, 1904-1990), "Over Fiji From Air," 1972, oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right, titled verso, canvas (unframed): 39.5"h x 50"w. Note: Jared Young Chong was a second generation American, born of Chinese ancestry in the (then) U.S. Territory of Hawaii. Chong attended the University of California, Berkeley and The San Francisco Art Institute in the late 1920's where he studied art and gained exposure to a more expansive world of creativity. While he avoided the fleeting stylistic influences, such as Abstract Expressionism, his work suggests influences of Diego Rivera, the Tahitian period of Gauguin, the colorful boldness of Hans Hoffman and the Bay Area Figurative landscapes of Richard Diebenkorn. https://jaredyoungchong.wixsite.com/portfolio
