Description
A Bakota reliquary, Gabon, once displayed atop a bark box of the bones of the deceased memorialized, with copper strips and pounded copper sheets intricately and artfully overlaying covering the carved wood on front, the back showing only blackened wood with a very abstracted human figure raised in relief, a diamond-shaped head, a good and classic example; raised on stand, 22.5"h (overall); 20.5"h (figure) Provenance: Collection of Vanna and N. Lee Lacy (Palm Springs, California). Mr. Lacy was a prominent Hollywood producer of films, creative golden-era TV series, and iconic commercials. His collecting has spanned six decades.
