Provenance: Property from the estate of Patricia Moffat Pope, San Francisco, CA. Patricia married George A. Pope Jr. in 1959, and together they built a Thoroughbred horse racing empire that included 27 stakes winners in the United States and Europe. Among the many races they won was the 1962 Kentucky Derby. Note: This 400+ page volume recounts the activities and memberships of East Coast upper class sports from 1896-1900, including golf, tennis, yachting, hunting, and auto-racing. Entries include essays by John Jacob Astor, Findlay Douglas and Beatrix Hoyt and begins with a long chapter on Women's Golf.
