An Alvar Aalto bentwood tea trolley, circa 1936-7, manufactured by Oy Huonekalu ja Rakennustoyotehdas Ab, Turku, FI, unmarked, 22.25"h x 34.5"w x . Provenance: Collection of Henri Christian lveisen, owner of Axiom Designs (later XN Designs). A key figure in introducing Italian furniture to San Francisco, lveisen also maintained a showroom in Soho, New York. Originally from Denmark, his expertise in Danish design was honed during his time at Georg Jensen on 5th Avenue. Note: This bar cart, also known as the Tea Trolley 98, was designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto in 1936. It was first introduced at the 1937 Paris World's Fair. Although typically known for its large white wheels, this early offered example is distinguished by its all wood construction. A similar example is held in the collection of the MoMa, New York
