Description
A glass advertising apothecary jar: Dr. King's New Life Pills, Always Satisfy, 13"h. Provenance: The Estate of Eddi Van Auken, Danville, California. Note: "Dr. King's New Life Pills" were a historical patent medicine sold by H.E. Bucklen & Co., Chicago, from the late 1800s into the early 1900s. They were primarily promoted for alleviating temporary constipation and "biliousness," which in that era referred to various digestive complaints often thought to stem from excessive bile.
